Monday, April 14th- Commuter Dinner In The AV 4:00pm-7:30pm

Tuesday, April 15th - ICE SCREAM SGA : 12:00pm-2:00pm in the Academic Village.

Wednesday, April 16th - REP YOUR CLASS STATUS (All Day)
Movie Night(TBA)

Thursday, April 17th- Annual Fashion Show Brought to you by Glamazon, VP of Programming, and SGA

Friday & Sat, April 18th & 19th- Caribbean Chaos

SGA NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR FALL 2008!!

Are you interested in playing an active role in the future of your college?
Joining the Student Government Association is a great way to start.
Elections for next year's SGA are coming up in March. All positions on the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branches must be filled.

The deadline for the application is Friday, February 22, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. It must be submitted in person to a member of the SGA elections committee in the Student Government Association, Student Union, third floor.

SGA Passes New Constitution!!

To better serve the campus community and function more efficiently, the SGA has ratified a new Constitution. Our new Constitution reaffirms our deep commitment to serving the student body while strengthening our position as an organization. The SGA Senate has also formed an Ad-hoc Ammendments Committee to review the new document and make reccomendations to the Senate for Ammendments.

FRESHMAN ELECTIONS

Good Morning/Good Day/Good Evening

I hope everyone has been having a great week so far, and I am here to make your week so much brighter! Now that I am up to speed with everything that is going on around me I have come up with a solid timeline that will not waiver for Freshman Elections and those of you who do not want to run for government but would like to still take part please do not feel left out there are always plenty of things to do within SGA and for you own Freshman Class of course.

First things first...

Applications are available in the SGA office and in this email! Although it says only Freshman Class President on the top any position may use that application just state which position you are running for. By the way these are the positions available.

Vice President
Treasurer
Secretary
Public Relations (2 Position)
ALL APPLICATIONS ARE DUE NO LATER THAN 8PM BY EMAIL OR HAND DELIVERY!!!
Election Timeline

October 21 - Applications are due by 8pm; MANDATORY MEETING @ 8:30PM IN ROOM 309. NO EXECPTIONS!
October 22-30 - Campaigning Begins!
October 29-30 - Meet the Candidates! ( MANDATORY UNLESS CLASSES CONFLICT)
October 31/November 1 - ELECTIONS

November 5 - Results Ceremony

SGA APPOINTMENTS

Hello Old Westbury Students!

Now is the time to get involved in student life here at Old Westbury! As your new SGA president I will be appointing students to fill vacant positions in the Student Government Association.

Available positions:

E-board:

Vice president of clubs and organizations (**Please note this position is still pending until the new constitution is passed.)

Student Senate:
· Chemistry and Physics
· History & Philosophy
· Mathematics, Computers & Information Science
· Modern Languages
· Sociology, Criminology
· Visual Arts
· Accounting
· Finance & Business Economics
· Education (2 Positions available)
Only those students who are majoring in the specified academic area are eligible to run for that representative position.
Student Court:
· Associate Chief Justice
· Court Justices

WELCOME!!!

Hello, fellow students and faculty. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Jimmy Boone and I am your new Public Relations manager for the SGA. I am a senior at Old Westbury and i am currently majoring in media and communications. I would like to start off by welcoming you all back for the semester and I hope that your summer vacation was a pleasant one. I would also like to encourage you all to visit your student government representatives on the third floor of the student union building. We want to hear from you!!! Issues, Concerns, and especially Ideas are all welcomed for discussion.
My own personal office hours will be 4:45pm to 6:45pm on Tuesdays and from 7pm to 9pm on Thursdays. Also, I will be in my office from 10am to 12pm on Mondays.
